Sandia National Laboratories Internship

From August 2021 to April 2022, I was a remote Virtual Technologies & Engineering Intern for Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. I contributed to a visualizations team that utilizes extended reality tools to further digital engineering efforts. Images on this page are from my practice projects in Unity, as my Sandia tasks were for projects unable to be released to the public.

Goals

  • Refine animations of rigid body dynamics simulations of nuclear strong links (critical safety mechanisms)

  • Use animation, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) to more effectively visualize and test models

  • Improve communication across cross-functional teams

  • Set up and debugged animations of critical nuclear safety mechanisms in Unity and Blender

  • Wrote and adapted C# and Python scripts for Unity animations and data cleaning

  • Delivered three presentations to engineering and upper management teams
